What to do in the event of an accident with a rental vehicle

In the event of accidents involving a third party (when the incident involves another subject, such as another vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist, animal, or property/object/infrastructure whose owner is known):

  • Fill out the CID form (Friendly Accident Report Form), sign it in every field, and send a scanned copy directly to the email address sinistri@autosystemspa.it, attaching some photos of the damage to the vehicle and/or of the event (the total size of all attachments sent via email must not exceed 25 MB; if this is not possible, send multiple emails with the same subject).
  • Remember to send the original report or the CID form to the following address:

If it is not possible to complete the CAI form or if the authorities intervened, the user must write a statement including all relevant information about the accident (date, location, details of the third party or intervening authorities, description of the event, etc.) using the corresponding accident report form involving a third party.

For subsequent damage repair, you must schedule an appointment with an Official Assistance Network center. You will need to provide the repairer with a copy of the report form you completed, which will be attached to the authorization request to carry out the repairs.

In case of accidents without third party involvement/found damage (when the event does not involve other vehicles or people, such as collision with fixed obstacles, parking damage, glass, tires and rims, internal damage, weather events such as hail, flooding, tornadoes):

  • Fill out the accident report form and send it scanned directly to the email address sinistri@autosystemspa.it attaching some photos of the damage sustained by the vehicle (the total size of all attachments sent by email must not exceed 25 MB; if this is not possible, send multiple emails with the same subject).

For the subsequent repair of the damage, you must make an appointment with an Official Assistance Network center. You must provide the repairer with a copy of the report form you submitted, which will be attached to the authorization request to carry out the repairs.

In case of theft and/or fire:

  1. File a report with the competent authorities (Carabinieri or State Police).
  2. Send a scanned copy of the report in advance by email to sinistri@autosystemspa.it
  3. Send the original report and all vehicle keys in your possession, and in the case of theft only, also include any documents still in your possession that were not left inside the vehicle. Send everything to Autosystem by registered mail or courier within 48 business hours to the following address:

The Autosystem insurance policy does not cover the theft of personal belongings left inside the vehicle.

For the subsequent repair of the damage, you must schedule an appointment with an Official Assistance Network center. You will need to provide the repair center with a copy of the report form you submitted, which will be attached to the request for repair authorization.

In case of attempted theft or partial theft, vandalism, theft and/or loss of keys:

  1. File a report with the competent authorities (Carabinieri or State Police).
  2. Send a scanned copy of the report in advance by email to sinistri@autosystemspa.it

The Autosystem insurance policy does not cover the theft of personal belongings left inside the vehicle.

In case of theft or loss of license plates:

  1. File a report with the competent authorities (Carabinieri or State Police).
  2. Send a scanned copy of the report by email in advance to sinistri@autosystemspa.it.

The vehicle is allowed to circulate for 15 days from the date of the report by displaying a temporary plate with a white background and black lettering, and keeping a copy of the report on board. Afterwards, the vehicle must be brought to one of our branches for re-registration.

The following documents must be submitted to the branch:

  • Original report
  • Registration certificate
  • Insurance tag

In case of theft/loss of both license plates, immediate immobilization of the vehicle is required for subsequent re-registration.
